12:41 am - hi, i'm a douchebag!
Guess what? You knew it would have to happen sooner or later. I moved again, but I added all of y'all back.

Is this a sickness with me? Perhaps.

New username: [info]cogenthoughts

For those of you who have been through journal after journal after journal, you know that it's almost like I've come full circle. Except the first time around, I was singular.

Here's hoping I shall stop now.

After finding (and purchasing) the book version of the Gallery of Regrettable Food, I meant to check out James Lileks' site again, as I hadn't in a very long time.

The full site is at http://www.lileks.com, but one of the best parts is the gallery, which is here.

Ah, memories. There was more here before the book, of course, and I remember whiling away several hours at Ramapo College, tucked into a corner of the tiny computer lab in the G-building, laughing and cringing simultaneously, sometimes receiving befuddled looks from other patrons.

Good times...

2:38 pm - Random word: tree
The trees here in Florida are different, hardier. I drive along the interstate and watch the masses of green flow by on either side. The palm fronds sway gently in breezes barely felt by me on the ground. My dad claims that he doesn't see them anymore, but I make sure I do; it's a reminder that I am still really here.

Okay everyone, I need
new music. So when you read this, I want you to take the song that is
playing on your playlist at this very moment and upload it to YSI [yousendit.com]. (If
nothing is playing upload the last song played)
Post the link in the
comments. Once you do that, post the meme in your journal and I will
reciprocate quite gladly. Let us declare this MusicWhore day.

This really only makes sense to Jersey people, pretty much, but...

Damn, I could really go for a Johnny and Hanges hot dog with mustard and onions, and a huge platter of gravy fries, with an ice cold Boylan's Creamy Red.

Taken while on the road in Georgia, this is the back of a Merita bread
truck (obviously). What amused me was the text under the logo, which,
if you can't read it, says, "Baked while _you_ sleep. . ." This strikes
me as saying, "While you were being a lazy bum in your bed, we were
busting our nuts making bread for you, so smile while you eat it, bitch!"

I've edited the last portion of my story, but it isn't finished yet; I'm feeling a little stuck these last few days. It probably doesn't help that I am incredibly mopey today.

I picked up a book on Wednesday (well, I got a few, but particularly this one) called Journal of a Novel: The East of Eden Letters. Basically, it is the results of what Steinbeck did during the writing of that particular novel. When he was stuck, he would write a letter (not sent) to a dear friend of his on the left side of a notebook, to flex his creative muscle; on the right side, he would put what he had written for the novel that day. This is very interesting to me; I think I might try that. I have a huge notebook that is just sitting here idly; it will get good use that way!

I got home Tuesday. We met up with Dani and her friend Eric yesterday; that was great fun.

And now Wes is gone, and I'm sad.

3:32 pm - Recap - probably boring to you, but I would like to remember
As previously mentioned, we left early in the morning last Tuesday, and the ride was mostly uneventful. When we drove into Georgia, we stopped at a bookstore which I had found over two years ago, when my family and I drove down to Naples, FL. That was the summer Wes and I first met in person, on that very trip. The CDs that he gave me then still remind me of that night we sat out under the stars. At any rate, the bookstore was even more of a haven for Christian fundamentalists than it was before. However, I still found two Joyce Carol Oates books I didn't have, and The Gallery of Regrettable Food book, which is hilarious!

We got to Wes' house around 6, and everyone was out, so we were on our own for dinner. We went to Ruby Tuesday's; the food was good, but we were very fatigued.

I think we just hung around the house on Wednesday. Well, more than that, but I shall not be going into details. Was fun, though!

Thursday we went shopping and had lunch at TGIFridays. We went to Kohl's; I've missed shopping there. I got a blue Eeyore shirt that says "bummer" on it (approximately 7 dollars) and a cute purple purse (on clearance for 3 dollars)!

Then we went to Goody's, which is another clothing store that we don't have in Florida. I got a pink shirt with Puff the Magic Dragon on it, a cute green polo with pink accents, a green scarf/belt/whatever, a pair of flame socks that came with free matching wristbands, and one of those squishy fiberfill pillows.

Thursday night we went to Sidelines for Team Trivia with Wes' sister, Kim. We had fun; we got fourth place, which was a twenty dollar gift card to Sidelines (natch). The category was Sex, Sports and Rock n'Roll. I was at a loss for sports questions. Oh, well, good times were had, and the lemon pepper wings were really good, too (although I had problems with them later).

Friday we took Wes' van to get checked out, as the brakes were scrubbing a bit. His back brakes had to definitely get fixed, so that was our afternoon. I think we went to Walmart at night, though, although that could have been another night.

Saturday we went to Alabama, to his grandma's house, where we had dinner with her, as well as two of his aunts and a few cousins. Then we went bowling, which was great fun. His family is zany and I had a fabulous time. I took over the last bit of driving home, though, as Wes had really hit the wall. I was exhausted, too, but I got us home.

Yesterday, we went into Atlanta to see Dad's Garage Theatre's production of Requiem for a Heavyweight, a Rod Serling play. It was very good. The only minor points: some of the actors were talking way too loudly, when they didn't have to; this was a small venue (approximately 25 seats), so you could hear them very well anyway. I didn't care much for the actor who played Mountain, mainly because he was too loud and a little over the top, I thought. However, he was better in the second act. All in all, it was an excellent play.

And now, today, we're just hanging out before we have to go back tomorrow. At least he's staying another day before he goes back and I'm alone again. However, it won't be the same once we leave here. When I'm here, it almost feels like we live together; we've slept in the same bed almost every night.

It gets harder and easier at the same time. . .

9:48 am - GA Post
Hello. I got here yesterday; we pulled in around 6ish (pm, of course). We left at 9am, so I think we made pretty good time.

There isn't much to report; I drove a minivan for several hours and I did relatively well at it! (Yes, this is an accomplishment, considering the fact that the biggest car I've ever driven was my dad's Toyota Camry, and that was only for about twenty minutes one time. I've had two cars since I began driving, a Honda Accord and a Saturn SL2, neither of which are very big, nor are they very high off the ground).

Stopped in this tiny FL town called Alachua (I think) for lunch; had this quite excellent Turkey Bacon Ranch Melt wrap at Subway.

So, today we're just taking it easy, pretty much. We're both really tired.

3:14 pm - In a while, crocodile . . . you'll be looking for some dessert.
Today was a lovely day for going in our pool. So we whiled away a good hour, floating about in the sun. My mom was the first one out, and she turned her head to look towards the lake behind our house.

"Huh," she said, "there are a buncha bubbles comin' up over there." She pointed to a shallow portion under a large tree.

"Well, there are turtles in there," I replied, remembering one scuttling across the street two weeks ago.

"Yeah," she said, absently, still looking. Then, suddenly, she yelled, "Oh my God, it's a crocodile!"

I scrambled out of the water to see, but all I was able to view was a large splash of brown tail. "It - it took a bird," my mother sputtered. "I saw this huge mouth!"

There are bubbles in the middle of the lake now, so we presume that's where he is at present. Fish and Wildlife is closed today, so my mom called the President of the Homeowners' Association to see if there is anyone else we can call. Our pool and such is enclosed, so that's no problem; however, it could, quite possibly, decided to head up from the lake and sun itself on one of our cars. (This happened to my cousin).

To be continued, I suppose....

Ah, the Mr. Clean Magic Reach. Such a useful cleaning tool for a short, semi-disabled person like myself.

Too bad it was my idea first. Mrr.

Your #1 Match: ENFP

The Inspirer

You love being around people, and you are deeply committed to your friends.
You are also unconventional, irreverant, and unimpressed by authority and rules.
Incredibly perceptive, you can usually sense if someone has hidden motives.
You use lots of colorful language and expressions. You're qutie the storyteller!

You would make an excellent entrepreneur, politician, or journalist.

4:08 pm - "Fucking Disturbing" doesn't quite cover it.
I really hope I don't ever get really ill in this state, and need the help of EMTs.

I was just on the phone with my mother, and she was telling me about an agent in the North Tampa office who just lost her son. Sad in itself, but even sadder when he might have been saved.

He wasn't feeling very well yesterday, presumably pains in his head, so he called 911. Then he went outside on the lanai, they think because he was having trouble breathing and needed air. Well, guess what?

The EMTs arrived shortly thereafter and knocked on his door. As he was outside, he didn't answer it, so what did they do?

They left a note.

Let me retype that, in case you missed that the first time. They. Left. A. Note.

And went away.

His father found him later on in the afternoon, dead.

Now, no one knows exactly what he died of; they think it was an aneurysm, but maybe they could have saved him if, I don't know, they broke the door down.

This isn't fucking FedEX, these are emergency personnel.

One massive lawsuit, coming up!

I want to go to bed, but now I want to beat my high score that I'm not even sure how I got.
